So this is my BEST FRIEND GETTING PROPOSED TO!! The one moment she has been waiting forever for and I got to be there to document it. To say I was honored and excited is an UNDERSTATEMENT.
This day took weeks and weeks of planning and lots of lying (of course). We told Tara that our group of friends would be celebrating our friend Laurens Birthday. The “birthday” celebration would be a duffy boat ride and dinner after. Tara had been dying to do a duffy boat ride with all her friends for a while before then so we knew it would be perfect.
Tara was suspicious of everything we were doing the weeks leading up so we threw her off by telling everyone I wasn’t going to be able to make it because I had a wedding to shoot (she knew I would need to be there for her proposal) as well as another one of her best friends. We even fake invited someone who wouldn’t be there for her proposal and threw him into the mix to throw her off (he didn’t really come).
Every group text message was planned down to the T. From getting her to wear something nice to throwing her off with all our lying. So the day arrives and everything goes down perfectly. We arrive early to set up the flowers, I hide with my camera (she doesn’t know I’m there) and then she comes around the corner to see a bed a roses overlooking Newport Harbor. It was magical. She was surprised, happy, excited, overwhelmed, relived, and IN LOVE!!!
Then came phase 2. We also planned a SURPRISE engagement party after the duffy boat ride. We told her we would be going out to dinner but we really took her to a party with all of her favorite people in the whole world. if you know tara its almost impossible to surprise her but Everything went off without a hitch. It couldn’t have gone more perfect! Now comes all the wedding planning! We have quite the year ahead of us :) let the tears start rolling.
shout out to amy jones for filming the proposal while I snapped photos, you the real mvp
